Joshua Kartawinata was born and raised in California. He has an undergraduate degree from California State University Long Beach in Economics.   

His passion for swimming started when he was eight years old and began swim lessons. Though he’s a strong swimmer now, struggled as a child and knows the importance of swim lessons.  He continued swim and water polo all the way through high school on the varsity level. Upon reaching his senior year was co-captain of the water polo and captain of the swim team.  

Following high school continued to teach swim lessons of every level throughout Orange County. Finally joining the Nadadores in spring of 2023. 

In his free time, he enjoys working out, hanging out with his five cats, and spending time with his wife.
